One of the latest batches of Mechanix Illustrated magazines I added to my collection comes from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Lotta alternative energy articles in there, lotta discussion about front-wheel-drive cars. And a lot of odd electric vehicles. But the ads – at least from the November 1979 issue – still show trucks and rear-drive cars aplenty.
