Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. Today we've got a battered old Swede from the island's East End, not pretty but still moving under its own power after many decades.
I may be off by a few years on this one, since the Amazon didn't change much during its production run and I'm going mostly by the early-series black license plates here; the plates date from 1963 or 1964, which means the car is probably no newer than that era (though it could be a late-50s model that got new plates in the early-to-mid 60s).
I found this car on the same block as the 1987 Subaru Justy. It's got a Bondo-enhanced purple paint job and plenty of rough spots, but it probably has another few decades of life left.
