Team Cytosport (#06), the leader of the race up until ten minutes ago, was towed into the pits after a collision with the #24 2002 Acura RSX Type-S of Team Honda Research West 1 between turns 7 and 8, causing both vehicles to leave the track.
According to Cytosport's driver, Klaus Graf, he was passing the #24 car between the two turns when the Acura turned in early and impacted the rear wheel. Team Honda Research crew chief, Dave Kirsch, told us that the RSX was holding the line going into turn 8 and that the Cytosport car impacted them, causing some minor suspension damage to the Acura, which was quickly repaired and back on the track. Body damage seems to be minimal on Cytosport's Daytona Prototype, but the crew has already removed the rear suspension, is inspecting the transmission and is finding the appropriate parts. We're still waiting for the live results page to be refreshed, so we're unsure who's currently in the lead.
UPDATE - 7:03 PST: Team Cytosport is out of the race with a cracked bellhousing. The overall leader is the #70 Team Trimtex/Fall-Line Motorsports V8-powered BMW M3. The online scoring site is currently down. We're working on providing updates in our posts. Check back soon.
